ROME, GA - Berry College Theatre Company (BCTC) produces new and inventive stories every year, and this new and hilarious yet heart-warming new play is one that adds to that list. Written by Berry junior Jack Padgett, Make Merry (Or How to Survive Your Family on Holidays) tells the story of Kirsten Bentley, a self-proclaimed “normal” college girl from a family that is anything but. When a sudden snowstorm traps her and her family together in their childhood home for the holidays, they’re forced to confront the things that have kept them apart in ways that none of them could predict. Through quick humor and deep heart in a family-friendly environment, Make Merry paints a picture of just what it’s like to live in a crazy family where everyone has the answers, yet nobody’s listening.
"I think that everybody has some craziness in their own families, and hopefully the interactions of the Bentley family onstage will remind them, in at least some way, of a relationship with some member of their own family. That’s what Christmas is all about, isn’t it?" ~Jack Padgett
MAKE MERRY's stellar cast includes Katie Cooley as Margaret, Vanessa Delgado as Kirsten, Holden Wynn as Danny, Andy Sphar as Martin, Tyler Hooper as Rob, and Daniel George as Dylan.
Performances are Wednesday, November 29th through Friday, December 1st at 7:30 pm and December 2nd at 2 pm and 7:30 pm. Admission for tickets will go as a donation towards the Saint Jude's Children's Hospital and our Student Travel Fund, which allows students to go to conferences and apply for summer jobs.
