ZOMBIE Presented In Spanish At 353 Studios 5/6

The award-winning play ZOMBIE by Bill Connington, based on the novella by famous American author Joyce Carol Oates, will be presented as a free reading on Friday, May 6th at 8 pm. Jorge Urzua, the Mexican actor, has translated the solo piece into Spanish, and will perform it at 353 Studios, 353 West 48th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues, 2nd floor. Urzua is best known for his work in the film BORDERTOWN in which he starred with Antonio Banderas, Jennifer Lopez, Maya Zapata, and Martin Sheen. He also starred in the Mexican television series LOS PARIENTES POBRES, VIDA ROBADA, CUANDO ILEGA EL AMOR, and LA FUERZA DEL AMOR.

Connington adapted ZOMBIE from the novella by New York Times bestselling author Joyce Carol Oates. Connington collected several awards performing the play at The New York International Fringe Festival, and in an extended run Off-Broadway. ZOMBIE was then made into a short film, which is currently making the rounds on the film festival circuit, most recently appearing at The Boston International Film Festival. Urzua's Spanish adaptation of ZOMBIE is an intimate special event--the audience will have the chance to see a performance, then have a discussion with the actor afterwards. ZOMBIE tells the story of a Jeffrey Dahmer-esque serial killer and sexual predator. The play contains strong language, and has explicit descriptions of sexual situations. The reading is free of charge.
