TWELFTH NIGHT: 1941 World Premiere Reading is Coming to El Barrio Artspace
The free staged reading will be directed by Ellyn Heald.
Living Room Productions and the Shakespeare Forum will present the world premiere staged reading of Twelfth Night: 1941, a bold reimagining of Shakespeare's beloved comedy, as part of its Summer Festival.
The performance takes place on Sunday, May 31st at 4:00 PM at the El Barrio Artspace, 215 East 99th Street. Admission is free and open to the public.
London, January 5th, 1941. The Twelfth Night of Christmas. With their theater reduced to rubble, a troupe of actors defy the London Blitz to stage Shakespeare's beloved comedy in an effort to boost the spirits of their community.
Inspired by incredible true events, this is a story about the irresistible human need to gather, tell stories, and choose joy in the face of mortality.

The cast includes Chad Vann, Dan Wilson, Eli Wassertzug, Helena Mueller, John Maddaloni, Kaileela Hobby, Kelly Pekar, Lake Wilburn, Samantha Blinn, Sheldon Donenberg, Tim Dowd.
Directed by Ellyn Heald, Twelfth Night: 1941 | Staged Reading is part of Shakespeare Forum's Summer Festival. The performance will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 4:00 PM at El Barrio Artspace. The staged reading runs 80 minutes, admission is free, and festive refreshments will be provided.
