THE IMPROVISED PLAY Launches at SoHo Playhouse Tonight, 6/23
The IMPROVISED Play will run every Saturday at 10pm starting tonight, June 23, 2012 at the SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street). Every week, the members of The IMPROVISED Play spontaneously generate an original and hilarious work of instantly important theater right before your eyes.
No rights have been secured, and no lines have been memorized. There is no budget to speak of, but The IMPROVISED Play promises you an experience every bit as professional and artistically gratifying as whatever creaky Broadway and off-Broadway entertainments you’d otherwise blow your money on. Plus, it's funny.
Whether creating “lost” works from famous dead playwrights, resurrecting entire eras of western drama, or providing an off-the-cuff alternative to current big-ticket hits, these UCB-trained comedians/thespians provide scrappier, funnier, entirely extemporaneous substitutes for all kinds of theater -- and every show is Opening Night! It's Broadway thrills without the Broadway price tag, and cutting-edge comedy without the two-drink minimum.
The IMPROVISED Play stars Matt Dennie (UCB: Spooky Ghost, Maneater: The True Story of the Champwat Tigress), Gia Ingram (UCB, A-21), Jackie Jennings (UCB: GoodGirl), Lisa Kleinman (UCB:Beige, The Artful Conspirators), Carrie McCrossen (UCB, Pearl Theatre Company, ArsNova), Hunter Nelson (UCB: Spooky Ghost, SoHo Playhouse’s Who Loves You, Baby?), Chris Principe (UCB, Elephant Larry), Josh Sharp (UCB:Spooky Ghost, Maneater: The True Story of the Champwat Tigress), Zack Willis (UCB:The Regulars).
Tickets are $20.00 and can be reserved at https://web.ovationtix.com/trs/pr/914872
