Sam Creely's BARBAROUS NIGHTS to Play Invisible Dog, Begin. Tonight

By:

Barbarous Productions will present the New York premiere of Sam Creely's Barbarous Nights, a sharp and surreal play inspired in part by the love letters of Lorca and Dali beginning tonight, July 5, 2013 through Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Invisible Dog (51 Bergen Street, Brooklyn). For more information, visit www.barbarousnights.net.

In BARBAROUS NIGHTS, Buster Keaton falls out of his film and into a poetic world, a 1930s both future and past. Grapefruit roll through the sand like tumbleweed. The streets are filled with optical shops. There, a rush of travelers -- a blind maiden struggling with the length of her dress, her nigh Victorian mother, a ridiculously attractive man peddling feathers -- float through Buster's nights like a dream as his sanity and the stoic stone face that made him famous start to crumble.

The cast of BARBAROUS NIGHTS features Nick Lehane, Sallie Eskins, Adrian Blake Enscoe, Dan Vidor, Lucia Roderique, and Christian DeMarais.

The production features scenic and lighting design by Josh Smith, costume design by Megan Spatz, projection design by Bart Cortright, sound design by Anthony Mattana, original music by Adrian Blake Enscoe and Anthony Mattana, choreography by Katie Rose McLaughlin, fight choreography by David Laws, mask design by Adrian Blake Enscoe and Nick Lehane, dramaturgy by Corinna Archer, assistant director Miranda Steege, stage manager Hannah Johnson-Walsh, producer Anne Troup, and production manager Taylor Speegle.

Sam Creely (Writer, Director) is a writer and a theatre artist living in Greenpoint. Upcoming work: Swell (Lyon, France 2014), and a novel about centenarians living in a lighthouse (merunicorns! ancient trout! organic honey!). Past work: Barbarous Nights (Carnegie Mellon), Bus Stop Opera (HomeBase IV; various sites of public transit in Pittsburgh and New York City), Hearing is the Last to Go and Egg Ceremony (Playground Festival), wigs + overhead projections + associate direction for Swell (Atomic Centre, Winnipeg; Women Center Stage Festival, Culture Project). Assistant work: Clive and A Lie of the Mind (The New Group), Ivanov (Classic Stage Company). Sam is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and currently works for Under the Influence Productions.

Performances of BARBAROUS NIGHTS are July 5-13th (Tues-Sat at 7:30PM, Sun at 2PM and 7:30PM) Tickets for BARBAROUS NIGHTS are $18 and available by calling 646-504-6607, online at www.barbarousnights.eventbrite.com, or at the box office prior to each performance. Invisible Dog is located at 51 Bergen St. in Brooklyn. Take the F or the G train to the Bergen St. Station.
