Rising Sun Performance Company To Present HOTEL SUITE, Now thru 11/3

Rising Sun Performance Company announced that it will present Hotel Suite, an immersive, site-specific 21-day theatrical event at Hostelling International (891 Amsterdam Avenue at 103rd Street) running today, October 11th through November 3, 2012. Hotel Suite will feature the celebrated work of Sam Shepard, FOOL FOR LOVE, and the first Off-Off Broadway production of Tracy Letts' BUG, along with six brand new one-act plays, all set in a hotel room.

Room 128 at the popular Upper West Side hostel is the perfect location for these eight plays, all set in hotels and motels, to unfold after audience members step inside the hotel room where they will be seated among the action. Akia, Rising Sun Performance Company's Founding Artistic Director and Director of BUG, is thrilled to present these traditional plays in such an interactive environment. "Rising Sun Performance Company has planned Hotel Suite for years," she explained. "And, we are excited that this ambitious project is finally coming to life as well as honored to present the inaugural Off-Off Broadway run of Bug."

FOOL FOR LOVE is written by Sam Shepard, directed by Tim Butterfield and Assistant Director, Andreas Hager, and features Ryan Dusek, Larry Gutman, Christina Mullikin & Jonathan Ziese. Eddie tracks down his former flame, May, as she is staked out at a Mojave Desert motel. The push-pull of their attraction and uncommon past creates a volatile reunion.

BUG is written by Tracy Letts, directed by Akia, and features Michael Aguirre, Amanda Berry, Carl Fengler, Sarah Norris & John Z. Corazón.

Lovelorn waitress Agnes and Gulf War vet Peter develop a surprising relationship in a dilapidated Oklahoma City motel room. The budding couple must face her abusive ex-husband causes problems as well as the psychological and physical effects of an insect infestation. The play won numerous awards, including the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play, for the 2004production at Barrow Street Theatre.

GREENLIGHT is written by Angela C. Hall, directed by Tim Errickson, and features Amanda Berry & Haddon McKinney.
A lonely man looks for connection and fulfillment in the wrong girl.

TELL ME YOU LOVE ME is written by Mark Cornell, directed by Leal Vona, and features Elizabeth Burke & Michael Burns.
Hearing three little words would mean so much to Isabel, but will a night in a desolate Maine hotel during winter convince Tommy, her estranged husband, just how important they are.

THE BELLHOP is written by Emily Duncan, directed by Mia Y. Anderson, and features Michael Burns, Ashleigh Herndon.                                                                                      What's worse than a ghost in your hotel room? An overzealous bellhop according to this zany comedy.

JUST ANOTHER SLAP HAPPY SAPPY FACE is written by Linda L. Rand, directed by Jak Prince, and features Stephon Pettway & Samantha DeSimone.
In this twisted dramedy, a lonely woman celebrates her birthday in a motel with only one guest: a clown she's hired to make her day.

WELCOME TO THE HOTEL DONUT is written by Mark Hanf, directed by Derek W.S. Shore and features Samantha Cooper, Kelley Evans, Samantha DeSimone, & Ashleigh Herndon. Continental breakfast has never been this much fun in this over-the-top comedy where a box of doughnuts attempts to seduce a hotel guest.
