Right Time to Say I Love You Competes In Manhattan Rep One-Act Competition

By:

"Right Time to Say I Love You"-a one-woman play written and performed by Milford, CT, resident Cindy Wolfe Boynton-is one of 33 plays competing in a Winter One-Act Competition sponsored by the Manhattan Repertory Theatre at 303 West 42nd St., sixth floor, New York, NY.

About the show: "Tackling the doubt, pain and conflict of caring for an elderly parent, Right Time to Say I Love You will be performed at 9 p.m. Jan. 23, 24 and 25 as part of the competition's Series J, along with "Sexpectations" by Stephanie Gardner and "Fingerprint Free" by Terry Sidney."

At the end of each night's performances, audience members will rank the shows on a scale of 1 to 5. The four shows that receive the highest overall scores will return to the Manhattan Rep on Jan. 28 to compete in the finals. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize.

Based on Boynton's own experiences of taking care of her mother with advanced Parkinson's Disease, Right Time to Say I Love You made its world premiere in October 2011 at the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York City.

Directed by Reno Venturi of the Actor's Gym in Hamden, CT, Right Time to Say I Love You is Boynton's first play. This is the show's official synopsis: "Frozen in a moment of crisis, an emotionally and physically drained Cindy must choose: ignore the ringing telephone and get the sleep she so desperately needs, or make another late-night rush to help the ill mother who's never once said I love you."

Since its creation in 2005, the Manhattan Repertory Theatre-led by Artistic Director Ken Wolf and Productions Director Jennifer Pierro-has produced more than 650 plays.

Tickets for the Winter One-Act Competition are $20 and can be reserved by emailing mrtreserve@gmail.com. Include your name, date you'd like to attend, and number of seats you'd like to reserve.
