"Thirty miles outside Prague lies the city of Terezín, a Nazi-described 'Jewish ghetto' and makeshift way station for millions of people awaiting transfer to death camps," according to production notes. "Despite the risk of being killed, a group of children are able to use their determination and creativity to build lives filled with hope and beauty." The play, which incorporates poems and other writings recovered from Terezín Concentration Camp after the war, "explores the strength, optimism and extraordinary resilience at the core of the human spirit."
