The American Songbook Project held its first "Musical Soiree" at the home of the president of the fundraising charity, Michael Putman Estwanik, last week.

Founded in 1999, TASP presents, preserves, and promotes the heritage of American classics and contemporary songs. By bringing singers and songwriters from Broadway and cabaret into New York City public schools and community organizations, they are introducing young people to the beautiful melodies and meaningful lyrics of American songs that are part of their heritage. The Musical Soiree is just one event leading up to the annual major fundraiser "Name That Tune!" (at which guests are invited to dress in costume of their favorite song title) to be held at the Hudson Theater in November.
