Phoebe Productions Begins Inaugural Show TWO ROOMS Tonight
Phoebe Productions will produce a limited-run revival of Lee Blessing's TWO ROOMS as its inaugural offering, starting tonight, April 13, at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios.
TWO ROOMS tells the story of the wife of an American hostage held in Beirut facing the difficult decision of cooperating with cautious hostage negotiators from the State Department or taking a riskier path by speaking candidly and publicly with a journalist. Although written in response to the hostage abductions of the 1980s, the play continues to resonate as we face similar hostage situations throughout the world today. TWO ROOMS examines the conflict between the needs of the state and the costs of those needs to individual victims and those who love them.
TWO ROOMS is directed by noted actor/director Greg Mullavey, veteran of over 100 Broadway, Off-Broadway and Regional theater productions. Mullavey just finished an Off-Broadway run opposite Marlo Thomas in Clever Little Lies. Of Mullavey's many television and film credits, he is best known for the roles of Tom Hartman in Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and Granddad on iCarly.
Familiar faces from the award winning web series That Reminds Me... will star in TWO ROOMS. Monica Cangero as Lainie and Greg Carter as Michael portray the husband and wife thrust into the nightmare of conflicts between national security, public disclosure, and personal survival. The cast is completed by Jenny Paul as the level-headed, coolly efficient party line government official Ellen and Will F. Young as the relentless journalist Walker.
