PIT Presents Premiere Production Of Plucky Paul Ryan Parody AYNNIE THE LIL' ORPHAN OBJECTIVIST Image

The People's Improv Theatre (PIT) will host the premiere production of Paul Ryan Presents: Aynnie: The Lil' Orphan Objectivist, an irreverent, comedic mashup of the musical Annie, Ayn Rand, and a desperate former Speaker of the House.

Paul Ryan is fine ... just fine. Sure, he may have stepped down from his position as House Speaker-by choice! But he's not having a crisis-you're having a crisis!-he's just taking some time to return to the two great passions of his youth, musical theatre and Ayn Rand, as he presents his "original" musical Aynnie the Lil' Orphan Objectivist!

With "Aynnie," Paul Ryan has taken the musical Annie and replaced that most optimistic of orphans with his favorite philosopher, Ayn Rand so as to better educate the youths of today about the glory of Laissez Faire Capitalism. This Objectivist-ly delightful parody follows the titular Lil' Orphan Objectivist in her quest to save Depression-era America from FDR's tyrannical New Deal. Along the way moochers like the kindly nun, Sister Hannigan, and fire-brand socialist Vice President Henry "Rooster" Wallace, try to dissuade her, but with the power of pure reason and an unshakeable sense-of-self there's sure to be no New Deal for Christmas! Featuring toe-tapping riffs on Annie favorites like: "Handout Life," "Tomorrow... (We Deregulate the Markets!)" and "I Don't Need Anything but Me."

Written by Annie Pulsipher (with loving nods to the work of Strouse, Charnin, and Lowe) and directed by Stephen M. Eckert. Starring Leon Schwendener as Paul Ryan, Sebastiana Gullo as Aynnie Rand, Benjamin Culpepper as Galt-esque hero"Daddy" Warbucks, Chantelle Guido* as Sister Hannigan, Jordan Plutzer as Henry Wallace, Ariel Neema Blake as Grace Farrell, Logan Faust* as FDR with Becca Bernard, Zach Herman*, and Stephanie Hawkins rounding out the Ensemble. Featuring costumes by Olivia Hern.

Aynnie will play at the PIT's Striker Theatre Thursday-Saturday starting August 16th through August 31st. Ticket are $15 advance and $20 at the door. Purchase tickets here.
