New Perspectives Theatre Company Presents SHE CALLS ME FIREFLY, 4/15-26

New Perspectives Theatre Company and VH Theatrical Development Foundation are delighted to announce a new collaboration on a limited-run production of She Calls Me Firefly by Teresa Lotz, opening April 15, 2015 and running through April 26th with a varied performance schedule. The production takes advantage of the New Perspectives Studio storefront at 458 West 37th Street to bring the phrase "drinks and a show" to a whole new level.

It's Nickel Beer Night at Freddie's Place. Ken has come to drown his sorrows, but no amount of alcohol can wash away the secrets of his past. As patrons enter Freddie's they are instantly transported from a New York City street to a Kentucky dive bar. We invite our guests to pull up a stool, grab a drink (the first is on the house), listen to the band and become immersed in a world they may find familiar...and then again...they may not. No need to tell.

Director Ludovica Villar-Hauser is aided in creating a unique environmental experience for theatre-goers by Scenic and Costume Designer Meganne George (Bdwy: It's a Wonderful Life, mabou mines' Dollhouse, Finn, and Cara Lucia); Lighting Designer Deborah Constantine, (La Mama, Williamstown, Primary Stages) and Sound Designer Janie Bullard (Rattlestick, The Flea). THE STRANGE AFFAIR OF HERSCHEL GRYNSZPAN Comes to The Other Palace Photo
It is 1938. A young Jewish refugee, Herschel Grynszpan, walks into the German embassy in Paris and shoots a German diplomat. He is arrested and spends the next four years in prison. When the Nazis march into Paris, they capture Herschel and send him to a camp in Berlin. Herschel has a choice: to be paraded in front of the world's press as a celebrity scapegoat; or to confess the truth - and to lift the lid on, not just his own sexuality, but the scandal that has infiltrated the Third Reich!
