MÁSCARAS AFUERA (Masks Off) Is Back On Stage At Teatro Círculo

There are secrets and laughter... and maybe, a wrestling match too.

MÁSCARAS AFUERA (Masks Off) by Joselo Arroyo is back on stage and this time as part of Teatro Círculo's CALLBACK series 2018 which takes a second glance at projects with previous limited engagements by independent artists, fostering and supporting work whose artistic merits and the audience response make them worthy of a second exposure. This year's edition of CALLBACKseries has two parts; starting its showtimes with MÁSCARAS AFUERA followed by SEIS by Federico Roca.

In MÁSCARAS AFUERA two childhood friends meet at a radio station to confess their secrets to each other. Marta is divorced, has a daughter, is a radio personality, is promiscuous and prejudiced. Luisa is married, has a son, is an accountant, and recently discovered something with a man who changed her life.

(Masks Off) happens in one night full of secrets revealed, of hilarious twists and moving comedic moments between the two actresses Edna Lee Figueroa and Edmi De Jesús, the direction is in charge of Gerardo Gudiño who has directed the duo in several other projects. The Assistant Director/Stage Manager is Luis Gabriel Joet, the Lighting Design is by Omayra Garriga Casiano in a production by Edna Lee Figueroa assisted by Francisco Cardozo.

MÁSCARAS AFUERA is a comedy written by Joselo Arroyo in 2005 for male actors with a story about men. This year 2018, twelve years after its opening night in 2006 in Puerto Rico, and after its performances as part of the Hispanic Federation's FUERZAfest2017 being awarded with the Best Playwright-Abniel Marat Award in May, it returns to the stage in an adaptation by Edna Lee Figueroa performed by actresses with a story about women.

This creative and dynamic comedy is performed in Spanish with English translation at TEATRO CÍRCULO located at 64 East 4th Street in Manhattan, between Bowery and Second Avenue, with performances in the weekends of April 6-15, 2018. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30pm and Sundays at 3:30pm.
