Jenny Mollet Featured in Kidz Theater's CABARET, Now thru 11/18

By:

Kidz Theater will present it's fall Mainstage Musical, Cabaret, music by John Kander & Fred Ebb, book by Joe Masteroff, directed by Kristen Caesar. Cabaret stars a cast of New York City's most talented professional young performers, including Jenny Mollet of Broadway's The Color Purple. The production runs today, November 9th-18th.

Cabaret is presented at The Connelly Theater on 220 E. 4th Street. Tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased online at www.kidztheater.org. Tickets will be $30 at the door.

Cabaret tells the story of a young American writer, Clifford Bradshaw, living in Berlin at the dawn of the Nazi era. He becomes infatuated with the giddy, gaudy decadence of the place, epitomized by a sexy, vaguely dangerous nightclub called the Kit Kat Club; in particular he finds himself involved with its chanteuse, sad, flighty Sally Bowles. While Cliff and Sally drift, dreamlike, in this happy but desperate milieu, life outside turns ugly. The story follows Cliff, Sally and their landlady Fraulein Schneider, a stern but warm woman who found love in her old age. Their lives are all affected as the Nazis take over Berlin.

Cabaret is based on the short novel, "Goodbye to Berlin" by Christopher Isherwood, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb (CHICAGO). The 1966 Broadway production became a hit and spawned a 1972 film as well as numerous subsequent productions.

Kidz Theater is a professional development program created to help young performers reach their professional performing arts goals. Through extensive training obtained through our FREE productions and low cost classes, our performers go on to Broadway, National Tours and top College Musical Theater programs.

Past performers include Ben Platt (Benji in "Pitch Perfect" current Feature Film), Greg Gorenc ("Pitch Perfect"), Dexter Darden ("Joyful Noise") Mavis Simpson-Ernst (cur- rently in "Evita" on Broadway), Anthony Pierini (currently in "Mary Poppins" on Broadway), Juliette Angelo (currently in the TV Series "Malibu Country", Broadway's "Billy Elliot", "Grinch" and "Mary Poppins", Bethany Tesarck (Broadway's "Bye Bye Birdie" and "Gypsy").
