Horse Trade & Wide Eyed Productions Present The Trojan Women 7/7-23

By:

Wide Eyed re-imagines Euripides' THE TROJAN WOMEN, antiquity's most powerful play about the eternal tragedy of war. This ensemble driven piece brings the ancient text to new life with heart-pounding immediacy inspired by current American military operations.

THE TROJAN WOMEN is directed by Kristin Skye Hoffmann, founding Artistic Director of Wide Eyed Productions. She sets the universal tale in a postmodern Middle Eastern war zone and aims to not only elucidate the tragedies visited upon a war torn society, but also to celebrate the strength and humanity of the victims. Hoffmann revisits the roots of her company's creative success by casting Amy Lee Pearsall (Hecuba) in the lead role of a Euripidean tragedy. Euripides' The Medea, with Pearsall in the title role, was Wide Eyed's inaugural production in 2007, and the show was met with critical and audience acclaim. Jack Hanley from NYTheatre.com called it "an exhilarating and haunting show," and went on to confess, "I cried."

The production will feature Savannah Clement (Hamlettes with FullStop Collective), Anthony Dogaj (Henry Vl part lll with Wide Eyed), Elizabeth Dogaj (Adam Roebuck Productions), Molly Gilman (Pinkalicious: The Musical), Jael Golad, Suzanne Hepker*, Melissa Johnson (Plight of the Apothecary with Wide Eyed), Lisa Mamazza (The Return of Toodles Von Flooz with Wide Eyed), Judy Merrick (Noah's Arkansas with Wide Eyed), Justin Ness* (Noah's Arkansas with Wide Eyed), Amy Lee Pearsall (One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest with Wide Eyed), Kirsta Peterson* (Plight of the Apothecary with Wide Eyed), William Reid (Kimberly Akimbo with Spoon Theater), and Rachel Riendeau (Lula Bell in Search of Santa with Manhattan Children's Theater). *Appearing courtesy of the Actors' Equity Association
