Greene Space at WNYC & WQXR Presents MTC's After Words Master Class 6/22

By: Jun. 07, 2011

Manhattan Theatre Club brings its popular discussion and performance series to the intimate venue of The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC and WQXR with After Words: Master Class on Wednesday, June 22 starting at 4:30 pm.

The event will explore this summer's anticipated revival of Terrence McNally's Master Class, starring Tyne Daly. McNally's play about Maria Callas takes us to one of her famous master classes, where, late in her own career, she dares the next generation to make the same sacrifices and rise to the same heights that made her the most celebrated, the most reviled and the most controversial singer of her time.

Classical 105.9 FM WQXR host Elliott Forrest will lead a lively conversation with Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress Tyne Daly, who portrays Callas, and director Stephen Wadsworth. In addition, cast members Olivier Award nominee Sierra Boggess (Love Never Dies, Broadway's The Little Mermaid) and Garrett Sorenson (featured performer in Boris Gudonov at the Metropolitan Opera) will perform arias from the play accompanied by fellow cast member Jeremy Cohen.

The limited engagement of Master Class begins previews June 14, 2011, at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre and opens July 7, 2011.
