EGO ACTUS Presents The New York City Icon Plays 11/6-19
Ego Actus is set to present The New York City Icon Plays, an evening of six short plays by six different authors that feature New York City as a background. Each play will feature an iconic New York City location or place, the subway, Central Park and the Staten Island Ferry among others. All performances held at Theatre 54, 244 West 54th Street in New York City on November 6th, 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th and 15th at 8:00 pm and November 12th and 19th at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased at the box office day of the show. Cash only. Equity showcase approval pending.

The New York City Icon Plays:
1) Robin Rice Lichtig's Francine takes a slice of everyday New York life in a coffeeshop and focuses in on one woman. Francine is celebrating a successful diet by treating herself to a frappucino. She is happy. The future is bright. Fat is behind her forever. Suddenly, her past self rears it's head and refuses to go quiety into that good night. Directed by Robert Weinstein.
2) Charlie in Central Park by Penny Brandt Jackson, directed by Sebastian Nyman Agdur. Jenny and Sam, two estranged adult siblings, face the task of fulfilling their dead mother's wish to bury "Charlie" in Central Park. There, in the middle of a winter's night, they meet the mysterious Alexi, a former Russian scientist, who shares a bottle of vodka as well as wisdom. A comedy about recycling, loss and reconciliation.
3) # 6 to Vermeer by Marc Lamberg, directed by Evan Cummings. Two old friends, Ted and danny, head uptown on the #6 Train for a medical appointment but might instead continue past their station and wind up at The Met to view the painting of Jan Vermeer.
4) Let Bygones Be by Zanne Hall, directed by Emily Cornelius. Why carry a grudge like a ball and chain? The world is in the neurotic shape it's in today because people refuse to bury the hatchet. In "Let Bygones Be," meet two former lovers who might've been but are not, choosing to travel in the lonely lane.
5) Two lonely New Yorkers contemplate suicide as they ride the State Island Ferry in Bara Swain's comedy, Aboard The Molinari, a 2011 Heideman Finalist, featuring Nick DeSimone and Briana Pozner.
6) When the local pizzeria starts turning out miracle pies, a new religion is born. These wiseguys deliver pizza and the "Good News".When they knock on your door salvation is an offer you can't refuse."The Sopranos" meets "The Book of Mormon" in "Pizza for Life" by Melissa Skirboll.

Ego Actus: Founded by Joan Kane and Bruce Kraemer, Ego Actus (Latin for "My Way") is dedicated to doing art for art's sake. We produce, direct and design plays that are presented as a complete audience experience using all the elements of theatre: developed scripts, accomplished acting, designs for set, costumes, lighting, sound and props by people who have made those disciplines a focus of their lives.
