Davenport Developmental Reading Series Presents JEREMY DE BERGERAC, 8/6

Broadway and Off-Broadway producer Ken Davenport (author of the popular blog, The Producer's Perspective) will present Joe Slabe's Jeremy de Bergerac as the tenth selection in THE DAVENPORT DEVELOPMENTAL READING SERIES, for readings of new works (plays and/or musicals), on Monday, August 6th at the Davenport Studio (250 West 49th Street, Suite 304, NYC). Joe Slabe is a Canadian writer and composer who obtained his Masters Degree in musical theatre composition from Goldsmiths College of the University of London. He has written or collaborated on five musicals including Austentatious, which was presented at the 2007 New York Musical Theater Festival and has just been published by Playscripts Inc. Joe’s most recent work, Jeremy de Bergerac, premiered in Calgary this past February to rave reviews and the show has been nominated for five theatre awards including Outstanding New Play, Outstanding Score and Outstanding Production of a Musical.

Ed Sylvanus Iskandar is Founding Artistic Director of the groundbreaking New York artists' collective Exit, Pursued By a Bear (EPBB), a socially immersive home theatre experience where the party is the play. He has staged over a hundred plays in the U.S. and U.K., most recently the NY premiere of Sean Graney's THESE SEVEN SICKNESSES at The Flea, which garnered him a nomination for the 2012 Drama Desk for Outstanding Direction of a Play and NY Times and Backstage Critics' Pick citations, and Jeff Whitty's THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF HEDDA GABLER (starring Whitty and Billy Porter) for EPBB. Up next: ALL GOOD ANGELS, part of a Civil War-set trilogy by EPBB's Resident Playwright Jason Williamson, with the support of an EST/Sloan Foundation grant. Ed is an Emerging Artist Fellow with NYTW, Drama League Directing Fellow, two-time Resident Directing Fellow at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Lincoln Center Directors Lab alumnus and recipient of the Robert M. Golden Medal and the Sherifa Omade Edoga Prize. BA, Stanford University and MFA, Carnegie Mellon University.
