DRUMS OF ILLUMINATION- a show of drumming, vocals, and ritual trance dances featuring Alessandra Belloni, Sergio Bellotti, and Giuseppe de Falco of Southern Italy, Davi Vieira of Brazil, Native American SilverCloud Singers- will play Monday & Tuesday, December 19 & 20 at 8 PM at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (bet. 9th & 10th Streets).

World renowned Alessandra Belloni, specialist in traditional Southern Italian music, dance & percussion, has assembled a spectacular group of artists representing Native American, Southern Italian, and Brazilian cultures. These three great cultures will unite to summon the ancient healing power of indigenous drumming, chants and ritual trance dances. They will be joined by stilt walker Mark Mindek appearing, in traditional Southern Italian style, as the Sun, the Moon, the Angel of Death, and bringer of Light, the Archangel Gabriel.

Program includes
Tarantellas from Southern Italy, including the authentic Pizzica Taranata used
to cure the mythical bite of the tarantula
Healing chants and drumming in honor of the Black Madonna
Work chants and protest songs
Native American ritual singing and drumming
Brazilian ritual drumming, chants and trance dancing.
