Cult Sensation DINA MARTINA: AMPLE WATTAGE Extends Run, 9/20-30
By popular demand, an additional week of performances has been added to the previously announced run of cult sensation DINA MARTINA in DINA MARTINA: AMPLE WATTAGE at The Laurie Beechman Theater. Performances, which begin Sept. 20, have now been extended thru Sept. 30th. After attaining cult status in her native town of Seattle and touring nationally, Martina’s official New York debut in 2005 sold out in minutes. Her follow-up shows have left jaded audiences (including Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Stipe, John Waters, Matt Stone, John Cameron Mitchell, Margaret Cho, Bruce Vilanch, Joyce Dewitt, S. Epatha Merkerson and Jeff Stryker - a list as strange has her shows) stunned and clamoring for more.
DINA MARTINA: AMPLE WATTAGE, like all of Martina’s surreal shows, is a nearly indescribable night of unique entertainment that assaults the senses like no other show. It promises to be a delightful blend of unequalled song, unnecessary dance, unattractive costumes, unbelievable video and unwanted gifts for lucky audience members.
Dina Martina has packed venues throughout Seattle as well as in Provincetown, Philadelphia, Vancouver, Portland, San Francisco and London. Martina has shared the bill with acts such as Modest Mouse, Built To Spill, Justin Bond, Nina Hagen and The Village People. She's the recipient of two GLAAD Media Award nominations for Best Off-Off-Broadway Show, two Footlight Awards from The Seattle Times (1999 & 2004), a 1997 nominee for a Seattle Stranger Fringe Theater Award for Best Solo Show, and a finalist for the 2007 Alpert Award.
DINA MARTINA: AMPLE WATTAGE runs Sept. 20 - 30, Thursday - Sunday at 7:30pm, except Sept. 27 which is at 9pm. The Laurie Beechman Theater is located inside West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd Street at Ninth Avenue, accessible from the A,C,E,N,R,V,F,1,2 & 3 trains at 42nd Street). Tickets are $22 plus a $15 food/drink minimum. To purchase tickets call 212-352-3101 or visit www.SpinCycleNYC.com.
