Company Of Fools Presents DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA

Company of Fools returns with another visceral, slice-of-life production to start off its 2019 season. For the second time, Company of Fools will be presenting a production as a member of the Access Theater's Association Series, at the Access's home on Broadway in lower Manhattan.

You may not feel worthy of love. Your family didn't express themselves that way. Your acquaintances had agendas. Your friendships were short lived. Nobody says yes to you. In a seedy Bronx dive, Danny (Cameron Clarke) meets Roberta (Cristina Ramos). Though they have been misunderstood and abused, two strangers lead each other, stumblingly, to the truth of love: It's not what you get. It's what you give.

In sticking with our mission of bringing new and original life to 20th-century works, we are so thrilled to present this gritty, unceremoniously bilingual production of John Patrick Shanley's heartrending tale of desperate and violent love. Company of Fools managing director Collin Blackard will take the helm in his directorial debut with this masterpiece.

The New York Times once famously called DATDBS "a Bronx Beauty and the Beast." As the first piece in a two-play exploration on relationship toxicity and mental illness (to be followed by Amy Herzog's Belleville in September 2019, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea acts as the perfect start to Company of Fools' third season of contemporary work.

The cast of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea features Company of Fools alum Cristina Ramos as Roberta and CoF founding Artistic Director Cameron Clarke as Danny.

All shows take place at the Access Theater's Black Box (380 Broadway), September 4-16, 2018. Performances are Tuesday through Sunday at 8:00 pm. General admission is $25, with additional ticketing options (VIP, open bar, etc.) available. Elevator use is available for patrons with disabilities. (DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.)

Founded by Cameron Clarke and Collin Blackard, Company of Fools is an emerging theatre collective whose purpose is to innovate the bastion that is theatre by constantly challenging the limits of our own ability, study, and understanding. To this end, our mantra is thus: "Dare to fail gloriously." Our brand of theatre is one that does not shy away from the difficult road and is always willing to push the absolute edge of what we are capable of doing as artists. We do not limit ourselves to "tried and true," tested, or safe productions, and we know above all else that our desire to push past the fear of failure can lead to unheard-of success. We constantly strive for new works, new techniques, and new perspectives in our pursuit of artistic achievement.

Company of Fools is dedicated to providing powerful, thoughtful, fresh, and invigorating productions of classic, contemporary, and original texts. Furthermore, we are committed to empowering new voices, new artists, and new communities throughout our various artistic pursuits.
