Casting Announced For One Year Lease's EAT THE DEVIL At The Tank

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) in association with One Year Lease Theater Company (2018 Drama Desk nominee for Balls; 2016 Drama Desk nominne for please excuse my dear aunt sally) will present the World Premiere of Eat the Devil by Nadja Leonhard-Hooper (member of EST's Youngblood) and Dan Nuxoll (Brooklyn Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in Brooklyn Culture), directed by Nick Flint (BALLS with One Year Lease), at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues).

February 21-March 9. Performances will be on Thursday, February 21 at 8pm, Friday, February 22 at 8pm, Saturday, February 23 at 8pm, Sunday, February 24 at 8pm, Wednesday, February 27 at 8pm, Thursday, February 28 at 8pm, Friday, March 1 at 8pm, Saturday, March 2 at 8pm, Sunday, March 3 at 8pm, Wednesday, March 6 at 8pm, Thursday, March 7 at 8pm, Friday, March 8 at 8pm, and Saturday, March 9 at 8pm. Tickets ($25) are available for advance purchase at www.thetanknyc.org. The performance will run approximately 100 minutes, with no intermission.

Eat the Devil is a new play set in a dystopian, media-crazed near-future, where a mysterious virus is infecting the nation. As viciously competitive media pundits battle to control the narrative, an artificially intelligent sex doll named Mia has a breakthrough... but will she be our Savior, or is she the Angel of Death?

The cast will feature Kev Berry (Associate Artist at The Tank), Lexie Braverman (Philip Ridley's Dark Vanilla Jungle at CSV Cultural Center), Ben Fine (Run All Night with Liam Neeson), Nathaniel Kent (Trevor with Lesser America), Jenna Rubaii (Groundhog Day on Broadway), Rory Spillane (Pace University), Kelindah Schuster (Bushwig at The Knockdown Center), and Emily Via (The Marvelous Wonderettes with Heritage Theater Festival).

Nadja Leonhard-Hooper (Playwright) is a playwright, screenwriter, and performer from Minnesota. She writes almost exclusively dark comedies that are almost always about animals. She is a proud member of Ensemble Studio Theatre's Obie-winning Youngblood collective. Her work has been seen at The Tank, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Dixon Place, and the Hairpin Arts Center in Chicago. Nadja is a graduate of Vassar College, where she studied drama and political science.

Dan Nuxoll (Playwright) is Artistic Director of the New York based non-profit film organization Rooftop Films. Since 1997 he has helped to transform it from a small, all-volunteer seasonal event into the largest outdoor showcase for independent films in the nation and one of the most innovative film organizations in North America. Dan has also worked as a co-director, producer, composer and sound designer for films and theater, and has been named to Indiewire's Influencers list as well as Brooklyn Magazine's list of The 100 Most Influential People in Brooklyn Culture.

Nick Flint (Director) is a theater and film director, actor, and writer. Directing credits: BALLS by Kevin Armento and Bryony Lavery, Stockholm by Bryony Lavery, Skin Tight by Gary Henderson, Ride by Jane Bodie. Select acting credits: Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally by Kevin Armento (Drama Desk Nomination & Edinburgh Stage Award), pool (no water) by Mark Ravenhill, The Shape of Things (Sydney Theater Company) The Recruit (Melbourne Theatre Company). Recently OYL received a 2018 Drama Desk Nomination (Sound Design, Balls) 2016 Drama Desk Nomination (Original Score, please excuse my dear aunt sally), a 2016 Edinburgh Stage Award (Best Ensemble, please excuse my dear aunt sally), a 2017 Houston Theater Award for Best Sound; and 2017 Houston Theater Award Nominations for Best New Play & Best Set and Property Design. www.oneyearlease.org

The Tank is a non-profit arts presenter and producer. Our mission is to remove economic barriers from the creation of new work for artists launching their careers and experimenting within their art form, and to do so in an environment that is inclusive and accessible.
