Cast Announced For Boundless Theatre Company's THE CONDUCT OF LIFE Boundless Theatre Company (María-Cristina Fusté, Executive Artistic Director) announces full casting for its revival of The Conduct of Life by acclaimed Cuban-American playwright, María Irene Fornés. Directed by Elena Araoz, the production will run from September 7 through September 30 at Teatro Círculo, located at 64 East 4th Street. The opening is set for Saturday, September 15.

The cast features Dakota Granados, Ana Grosse, Déa Julien, Monica Steuer and Terrell Wheeler.

"This dream cast, all of them known for their daring and willingness to take risks, will approach these demanding Fornés characters with the abandon I am sure she would want," says director Elena Araoz.

Dakota Granados has appeared in Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis), and Alligator (The Sol Project and New Georges), both directed by Elena Araoz. Granados is a founding member of the Production Company Raucous and Quill.

Ana Grosse's New York credits include Holy Land (HERE), Useless (IRT Theater), Charles Mee's Fetes de la Nuit (The Ohio Theatre), La Cena (IATI Theater, Latin ACE and HOLA awards), Muerte Súbita (Bridge Playhouse), and numerous productions with Repertorio Español.

Déa Julien was a member of the first national tour of West Side Story. New York: STET (Abingdon Theatre), Intimacy (The New Group), Blueprint Special (Public Theater), Lawnpeople (dir. Elena Araoz, Cherry Lane Theatre), Julius Caesar (Access Theater), Suzan-Lori Parks'365 Days/365 Plays (Public Theater).

Monica Steuer is a trilingual award-winning actress with over 26 years of experience in theater, film and television. For 12 years, she was a member of Repertorio Español. Recent credits: Prospect (Boundless Theatre Company), La Paloma Prisoner (Signature Theatre), Musas (FringeNYC), and The House of the Spirits (Gala Hispanic Theater).

Terrell Wheeler is an alumni of the Mason Gross School - Rutgers University. Regional Theater credits: Fly (Pasadena Playhouse), Lombardi (Riverside Theatre), Carnaval (Luna Stage), and most recently, Romeo and Juliet (dir. Elena Araoz, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis).

The Conduct of Life presents an unflinching portrayal of the intersection between political and personal violence. The play is driven by Orlando (played by Dakota Granados), an army officer serving under the totalitarian government of an unnamed Latin American state. As he advances in his career, Orlando perpetrates state-sanctioned acts of violence, warping his psyche and gradually upending life in his household. His descent into a lifestyle of corruption and abuse leaves Orlando's family grappling with the pernicious intrusion of state terror in their private lives. This riveting exploration of power, gender and greed provides a timely and brutal portrait of domestic life under authoritarianism.

Cuban-American playwright María Irene Fornés is one of the most influential American theater-makers of the 20th century. Her transformative experiments in theatrical form became trailblazing contributor to the development of feminist, queer and Latinx aesthetics onstage. She is the winner of nine Obie Awards, including for Promenade and The Successful Life of 3, and was also a finalist for the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for her play And What of the Night? In 2002, she earned the PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation for Theater Award for a Master American Dramatist. In 1999-2000, Signature Theater devoted a season to her work. A defining force within the off-off-Broadway movement, Fornés - as a playwright, director, designer and teacher - continues to inspire new generations of theater-makers today.

The Conduct of Life runs from September 7 through September 30. Performances take place Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 6:00 pm. Teatro Círculo is located at 64 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery, and is accessible from the F at 2nd Avenue, the 6 at Astor Pl., and the N/W at 8th Street.
