Breathless, the story of two people from opposite end of the spectrum colliding on a train one late night in Chicago, will play at the Johnson Theater at Theater for the New City as part of the 2011 Dream Up Festival, September 1st-4th.

The play is co-directed by and stars Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Michael Sutherland.

In Breathless, a proper black woman from the suburbs and a white wannabe "thug" from the inner city engage in a unique conversation that forces them to confront their own issues of race, sex, and identity. As the ride wears on, and the night grows longer, the two discover they may have more in common than they thought.

An active and visceral look at a Culture Clash, Breathless reverses racial stereotypes and challenges the ideas of race and identity in a seeming post racial society.

Breathless was previously workshopped as part of the 2010 The Downtown Urban Theater Festival at Theater for the New City.

Breathless will play the Johnson Theater at Theater for the New City on September 1st at 9pm, September 2nd at 7pm, September 3rd at 7pm, and September 4th at 5pm and 7pm. Tickets are $12.
