'Alcohol', A New Play, To Debut at Players Theatre Loft 9/11

Alcohol., a new play written and directed by Kyle Bradstreet  starring James Fauvell, will have its world premiere September 11 - 27 at The Players Theatre Loft, 115 MacDougal Street.  Alcohol. is an affecting play about a lost young man attempting to understand his relationship with alcohol.  The run will be produced in part by Shortened Attention Span and will play nine performances (Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 pm).

Alcohol. Is the story of Jack, 27 years old and in love with Maria, Hemingway novels and whiskey (although not necessarily in that order), and his first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.  In this funny, touching one-man show, Jack tries to figure out just how he ended up at A. A. in the first place.

Kyle Bradstreet directed The Café, and his most recent work, A Story From Abeyance, which he also directed, was voted the audience's favorite play of the week at The Shortened Attention Span Horror Festival in 2007.  James Fauvell has performed in numerous downtown theatres and recently completed training at Stella Adler School of Acting and LAByrinth Theatre Company - under co-artistic directors Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Ortiz -and can be seen in The Day Jack London Got Pinched and Nicolas of Myra, an independent feature to be released this Christmas.

Shortened Attention Span is making a name for itself in the downtown theatre scene with its successful annual one-act festival, now in its third year.  The Company prides itself on keeping its goals focused on the writing.  It seems to be working -nytheatre.com has noted the "impressive talent" that the company brings to the stage.  As co-founder Carlo Rivieccio says, they're "tilting the favor back to the writer." Alcohol. is the first full-length production for the company.
