Adventures Continue for Addy & Uno in ADDY FOR PRESIDENT

ADDY & UNO, the family musical that has been packing them in at Theatre Row for over a year, has just announced a new production that will follow the beloved characters of Addy & Uno on a new adventure! ADDY & UNO: ADDY FOR PRESIDENT will debut in spring 2019 and play in rep with the original production. The new musical will star a cast of puppets and people, feature an original score, and follow in the footsteps of the original production by celebrating the beauty of differences, while teaching kids of all abilities to dream and to dream big.

ADDY & UNO: ADDY FOR PRESIDENT will follow Addy, a young girl with ADHD, as she runs for class president on the promise to make her school accessible to all students. With her best friend Uno, a young boy with autism, as her campaign manager, she promises to include braille on the class signage for her friend Melody with low vision, a ramp for her friend RJ who is in a wheelchair, and have printed daily announcements for Seymour, a friend who is hard of hearing, to read. When her opponent promises vending machines in the school and runs a smear campaign against Addy, the team must decide to campaign with kindness. In the end they learn that you don't have to put others down to make yourself feel bigger!

The show will play in rep with the original production of Addy & Uno. Uno is the smartest mathematician in the school, but he's also nervous around crowds, bright lights, and unknown situations due to his autism. When his friends sign him up to compete in the school's math competition, he must find the strength to compete and win.

After a sold-out run at The 14th Street Y downtown, the show immediately transferred off-Broadway to Theatre Row, where the run has been extended several times. It has been featured on CBS, NBC, and ABC News, gone viral with a piece by NOW THIS, been tweeted about by Hillary Clinton, performed on Good Day New York, and was nominated for the Off Broadway Alliance Award. The show is now touring Westchester, upstate New York, New Jersey, and the five boroughs, with requests from schools, hospitals, and organizations in LA, SF, Memphis, Orlando, Boston, Florida, and more!

Created by Dr. Nava R. Silton, a developmental psychologist, ADDY & UNO is a spinoff of her ten comic book series Realabilities used to teach kids about their peers with differing abilities. "It's people first", says Dr. Silton, "It's RJ who loves rockets first, it's Uno who loves math, it's Addy who is hilarious and spunky, and they have a disability. We want the audience to get to know them as kids and as people first, with wonderful strengths and interests." The new score will be by Addy & Uno's composer Bonnie Gleicher (singer/songwriter who was seen on Broadway in Jane Eyre), and is produced by Drama Desk nominated Tom D'Angora and Michael D'Angora (NEWSical The Musical, The Marvelous Wonderettes), in association with Anastasia Somoza (disability rights speaker and activist).

The show is appropriate for all ages and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
