THE ONLY TRIBE
by Roland Gebhardt
Masks, movement  and sociology are blended together in this abstract interpretation of a short story by Rebecca Bannor-Addae. Her mythical tale of "The Only Tribe" explores how identity creates relationships, stirs conflicting tribal identities, and creates havoc and disagreement that leads to chaos. Distinct geometric masks are employed in an exploration of individual identity and the formation of group identities. Sets of masks interact with lighting and projected images to conjure strong visual imagery while music and sound provide emotional contrast and congruency. The Only Tribe cannot be defined by style or ethnicity. Rather, visual elements, sound and movement combine to create a unique, specific dialect. The production features music by Stephen Barber. The choreographer for the piece is Peter Kyle. www.theonlytribe.com

WICKETS
by Clove Galilee and Jenny Rogers / Trick Saddle
Wickets is Fefu and Her Friends at 30,000 feet. The entire theater becomes the  inside an airplane for this celestial rock opera. The audience is surrounded by high-flying action that takes place all around them--in the aisles, galleys and lavatories of a transatlantic flight. Immersed in a mystery, eight 1970's stewardesses find themselves split between the private self and the public persona in this radical adaptation of Maria Irene Fornes Fefu and Her Friends. Manned by a dedicated crew, Wicket Air Flight 1971 takes off just prior to the crest of the  Wave of feminism. Valiantly going where no man has gone before -- to the struggle of women in the workplace -- these women look for mysterious signs of life and offer oxygen to a present-day feminism desperately in need of life support. Trick Saddle's previous work has been presented at PS122, Arts at Saint Ann's, PS1, MOMA, Walker Art Center and HERE.

FIRE THROWS
by Rachel Dickstein / Ripe Time
Freely adapted from Sophocles' Antigone, Fire Throws is a response to the ferocity and indomitability of Antigone herself. It is a kinetic exploration of the dynamics of her rebellion against Creon's abuse of power. Text-based scenes are paired with compositions that paint characters' internal psychology in movement and image. Antigone's refusal to heed Creon's rule of law stands out as a dazzlingly pure drive, unfettered by doubt.  Directed by Rachel Dickstein, the production features music by Jewlia Eisenberg, video by Maya Ciarrocchi, sets by Susan Zeeman Rogers, lighting by Tyler Micoleau, and costumes by Ilona Somogyi. Ripe Time develops and presents new performance works that explore the meeting ground between dance and theatre through an amalgam of rich language, visual invention and physical rigor.   Ripe Time's work has been shown and developed at the Ohio Theatre, Performance Space 122, the Clark Studio at Lincoln Center, La MaMa ETC. and Pace University/ Drama League Cite Read program. www.ripetime.org

RODS AND CABLES
by Allison M Keating / 3-Legged Dog
Rods and Cables is a wild, vulgar and cartoonish look at desire and despair.  It is about the common fear of losing trust in the people we love the most.  Human nature is examined at it's most instinctual and unmannered.  Juxtaposing brutally realistic behavior with cartoonishly slapstick behaviors, the character's sexual desires constantly end in disappointment.  The thrill of youth is shown to be fleeting and artificial.  Above all, this play exposes the joy of experiencing new things, even if it hurts a little.  This 3-Legged Dog production features video design by Jeff Morey(Builder's Association), sets by Paul DiPietro (Richard Foreman's Ontological-Hysteric Theater), costumes and props by Nellie Fleischner (Richard Foreman's Ontological-Hysteric Theater)  lighting by David Tirosh (founder of the Williamsburg Arts Nexus - WAX) and sound by John Plenge (Tone Factory).  Performers include 3-Legged Dog veteran actors David Tirosh, Catherine Yeager, and Joshua Koehn.

3LD Art & Technology Center is an artist run production studio with one goal: to create a culture of risk taking, experimentation, independence and ambition with a cooperative international community of artists centered in New York.  Our facility and programs are an arena in which residents simultaneously increase knowledge, streamline production processes and realize their creative visions.   3LD's resident programs are designed to create a stable, savvy, self-sufficient experimental arts community with access to resources and professional development that leads to better quality work, high production values, and new ways of engaging the public, here and abroad.  With our resources and the time to really dig in to their work, residents have the opportunity to test the limits of their materials and expand their artistic imaginations.
