SCHOOL PICTURES and TWO GIRLS Set for Cherry Lane Theatre Fall Programming

Cherry Lane Theatre has unveiled its fall programming, featuring the return of Milo Cramer's School Pictures and the world premiere of Eliya Smith's Two Girls.

Previews for both productions will begin October 7 ahead of an October 18 opening night. School Pictures will play nightly at 7 p.m., followed by Two Girls at 9:30 p.m. The productions are separately ticketed and are not intended as a double feature.

Returning to New York following a sold-out run at Playwrights Horizons, School Pictures is written and performed by Cramer and directed by longtime collaborator Morgan Green.

The musical journal follows students including Faith, who hates reading; Jane, who has lost her flashcards; and Javier, who questions the point of studying in the face of climate change. Through their stories, the work examines parenting, inequality and the challenges of puberty within the New York City school system.

Cramer's previous works include Cute Activist and Minor Character.

Also joining the fall lineup is the world premiere of Two Girls by Eliya Smith. The dark comedy revisits one of the internet's most notorious viral shock videos from the 2000s, using verbatim dialogue to examine sex, disgust, the body and the images people encounter while developing their sexualities.

The two-hander was developed with experimental theater ensemble The Goat Exchange and Cherry Lane Theatre. Chloe Claudel and Mitchell Polonsky will direct, with Claudel starring alongside Juliana Sass.

Smith's previous works include Dad Don't Read This and Grief Camp, while The Goat Exchange's work includes Time Passes and Deadclass Ohio.
