Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) is now accepting entries for its popular LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to its next production, the World Premiere of THE RETRIBUTIONISTS, a new play by Daniel Goldfarb (Modern Orthodox, Adam Baum and the Jew Movie, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me). At least 50 tickets will be available via the online lottery.

A ticketing initiative created last season as part of the theater company's Arts Access program, LIVEforFIVE makes $5 tickets available for the first preview performance of each Playwrights Horizons production through a lottery via the company's website (www.playwrightshorizons.org). The LIVEforFIVE lottery for THE RETRIBUTIONISTS will be for tickets to the first preview on Friday, August 21 at 8PM at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

Directed by Leigh Silverman (Coraline; Well; From Up Here; plus Blue Door at Playwrights Horizons), THE RETRIBUTIONISTS will have its official opening on Monday, September 14 at 7PM and continue through Sunday, September 27. The seven-member cast is headed by Adam Driver (2009 Juilliard School graduate), Margarita Levieva (Impressionism, the films Adventureland and the upcoming Spread opposite Ashton Kutcher, "Kings"), Cristin Milioti (the recent Stunning at LCT3, Coram Boy, The Lieutenant of Inishmore) and Adam Rothenberg (Danny and the Deep Blue Sea at Second Stage, A Streetcar Named Desire at the Kennedy Center, the film Tennessee opposite Mariah Carey) and also features Hamilton Clancy (Dog Logic at American Place Theater, the films Burn After Reading and American Gangster), Rebecca Henderson (Three Sisters at CSC) and Jefferson Award winner Lusia Strus (for Go Away, Go Away, plus Henry IV with the RSC and It Ain't No Fairy Tale with Steppenwolf).

Details for the lottery are as follows: enter the lottery online at www.playwrightshorizons.org between now and Monday, August 17 by 12 Noon for your chance to purchase one or two $5 tickets. Winners will be notified via email by 3PM on Monday, August 17 with instructions on how to book their $5 tickets. Tickets unclaimed by 12 Noon on Tuesday, August 18 will be offered to a waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis.

Set in spring 1946, THE RETRIBUTIONISTS concerns a simple plan - a German for every Jew. Its execution would be swift, clean, its impact undeniable. In this daring, new romantic thriller inspired by actual events, a band of young Jewish freedom fighters attempts to avenge a society's wrongs - if they can keep from tearing each other apart in the process.

The Arts Access program at Playwrights Horizons allows the institution to reach out to those who may not be able to afford the cost of a full-price theater ticket.

Reflecting Playwrights Horizons' ongoing commitment to making its productions more affordable to younger audiences, the theater company will offer HOTtix, $20 rush tickets, subject to availability, day of performance only, starting one hour before showtime to patrons aged 30 and under. Proof of age required. One ticket per person, per purchase. STUDENT RUSH, $15 rush tickets, subject to availability, day of performance only, starting one hour before curtain to full-time graduate and undergraduate students. One ticket per person, per purchase. Valid full-time student ID required.
