Patricia Conolly and Elizabeth Franz Star in AGAINST THE RISING SEA, Opening 10/15

By:

Queens Theatre in the Park will present AGAINST THE RISING SEA by Kelly Masterson from October 15th-25th. The production stars Patricia Conolly and Tony Award winner Elizabeth Franz, and is directed by Joe Cacaci.

This world premiere centers on a new relationship that is rocky, an old one that is challenged and a beautiful house in Provincetown that becomes The catalyst in this story about the importance of honor, honesty and the enduring power of love. This funny and poignant play is set in Provincetown on Cape Cod. Goldie and Lina's life together comes full circle when their path collides with a younger version of themselves. A story of relationships, an uncertain future and a troubled past.

Elizabeth Franz has won a Tony Award, for her role as Linda Loman in the 1999 production of Death of a Salesman, as well as an Obie Award, for her role in the 1980 off-Broadway production Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You. Franz has also been nominated two other times for a Tony Award (for 1983's Brighton Beach Memoirs and 2002's Morning's at Seven). In 2004 and 2005, Franz appeared at the Royal National Theatre in London, in the Sam Shepard play Buried Child. In 2007, she appeared to critical acclaim in Julia Cho's drama The Piano Teacher at the Vineyard Theatre in New York.

Patricia Conolly began her stage career in Australia where she grew up, and has also performed in England in the West End, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Chichester (Laurence Olivier's company); in Canada for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival; and on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in major regional theaters across the US. On Broadway her credits include Is He Dead?, "Enchanted April", "Judgment at Nuremberg", "Waiting in the Wings", "The Sound of Music", "The Heiress", "The Circle", "Blithe Spirit", and many roles at the Lyceum with the APA/Repertory Company, under the direction of Ellis Rabb. At Lincoln Center she has appeared in Tom Stoppard's "Coast of Utopia" directed by Jack O'Brien, and earlier in "A Streetcar Named Desire" with RoseMary Harris, (director Ellis Rabb). Off Broadway her credits include "House and Garden", "Woman in Mind" (MTC), "Tartuffe, Born Again", "The Importance of Being Earnest" (Circle in the Square), "The Real Inspector Hound" and "Hedda Gabler" (Roundabout).

The production will run at Queens Theater in the Park from October 15 - October 25. For tickets are more information, visit queenstheatre.org.
