MAMA AND HER BOYS Closes Off-Broadway Tonight

By:
The critically acclaimed musical Mama and Her Boys will close following tonight's performance. Previews began February 11 toward a February 18 opening. Originally slated to run through March 4, Mama and Her Boys was twice extended. Upon its close, the show will have enjoyed a 13-week run.

When combined with its New York Premiere last February through May at the Underground Theatre, Mama has enjoyed a 28 week New York run.

All three creators and original cast members Ethan Paulini, Christopher Sidoli and Wendy Watson will appear in the roles they originated on May 7. The current cast also includes original New York City cast member Erik Keiser, Sarah Kleeman and Steven Boyd Baker and guest star Cristin J. Hubbard (Phantom, Pirate Queen). Paulini directs and choreographs with musical direction by Lilli Wosk. Sidoli serves as musical consultant and Tony nominee Linda Kline serves as script consultant. The score features contributions from Sam Carner and Derek Gregor, Drew Overcash, Sally Fingerett and Tony nominee Lucy Simon. The run is produced by CEW Productions and Sophies.

The runs featured guest Broadway and NYC stars such as Cristin J. Hubbard, Coleen Sexton, Christina Sajous, Nicole Lewis, Bethany Moore, Tracee Beazer, Tory Ross, Eric Riley, Paige Turner and 3 time Emmy nominee Colleen Zenk.

"To say I am proud of this show is an understatement" Paulini said in a statement. "Ever since Wendy and Christopher and I premiered this show back in 2011, this show has taken on a life of it's own. From Provincetown to New York, audiences have embraced us in a way I could have never imagined. I am so grateful to all our new family members; Lilli, Sarah, Steven and of course Erik are all remarkable talents we are so lucky to have had join us on this part of our journey. While this may be the end of our incredible 17 month New York chapter, I look very forward to what lies on the horizon for Mama."

Featuring an eclectic mix of music from virtually all genres, this funny and poignant musical explores the dynamic relationship between mothers, sons and families. Mama and Her Boys premiered in January of 2011. Following critical and commercial success it has enjoyed engagements all over the Northeast and has enjoyed nearly 300 performances for thousands of theatregoers including an open ended run in Provincetown, MA from June-October, 2011.
