CHALK OUTLINE PORTAL Adds Extension at Theaterlab
The immersive danceplay from SLEEP NO MORE alum Tony Bordonaro and Ingrid Kapteyn lands on Dance Magazine's must-see list.
Due to audience response, Welcome to Campfire has added a one-and-only extension performance of Chalk Outline Portal on Saturday, May 23 at Theaterlab in Midtown Manhattan.
Recently named one of Dance Magazine's “must-watch” performances of the season, Chalk Outline Portal is an immersive danceplay traversing grief, consciousness, and the fluidity of self through movement, live sound mixing, real-time video feed, and interactive gaming elements that allow select audience members to influence the performance in real time.
Somewhere between an intergalactic space party, a cosmic comedy club, and a meditation on mortality, creators and performers Tony Bordonaro and Ingrid Kapteyn tumble through spacetime searching for themselves in each other.
Each performance includes only six Premium Player tickets, inviting audience members to use handheld controllers to shape the experience live, along with special guest star pre-show MCs. Audiences are encouraged to arrive early to not miss any of the shenanigans! No two performances will unfold the same way.
Developed across multiple residencies and devised through an extended collaborative process, Chalk Outline Portal blurs the boundaries between performer, creator, and observer - transforming the audience from passive witness into active participant.
The production features live video design by three-time Emmy Award-winning producer/photojournalist Roberto Araujo, live sound mixing and score by Marc Cardarelli, light design by David Glista, projection design by Camilla Tassi, and costume design by Victoria Bek.
