Since the world premiere in 1905 has just been all regissørers challenge. So Salome created scandal when, Stefan Herheims production both genierklært and debated at the premiere in Salzburg in 2011. He is now back in the National Opera after the success of La Bohème last season. Based on Oscar Wilde's play about Emperor Herod's stepdaughter Salome, taking the Opera out of desire, fear, superstition and frustration. He is the father of Herod and Herodias ' tense relationship is going out when Salome erupts out of their role as dutiful daughter and puts words on Herod's lust. So she conquers the patriarchal universe and puts its destructive forces. Here explored the relationship between it and to be considered. In the Centre of the stage picture stands a giant telescope that phallic symbol of power and powerlessness, as a bridge between reality and imagination, history and myth, religion and fatal fanaticism.
