Is it possible to choose the life you want?
It's sunny and summer and we meet Ellida Wangel in a small town at the head of the fjord. Ellida, who have grown up abroad by sea, has started a new life together with doctor Wangel and his two adult daughters. But she longs for something else and plagued by unrest. She has lost a child and feel not incorporated into his new family. Then one day she is being targeted by the man who once was her great love, which she never forgot.
Riksteatret puts this fall up one of Henrik Ibsen's most recent dramas, though the trick to make the right choices and live the life you want. For who has not thought about what life would have been if you chose differently?
Director for staging is Anne-Karen cotton, one of Norway's most acclaimed Ibsen directors. She received the Hedda Award for the wild duck at the Trøndelag Teater and good reviews for his production of A Doll's House for riksteatret. The lady from the sea is her sixth Ibsen production.
