During a period in which He struggled with both health and finances, he was given a choice of Bible texts of a friend. Handel was violently inspired, immediately felt much better, and this oratorio composed in just 24 days. The work is in three parts, which in turn are divided into "scenes", just as it was common in opera at the time. The first part contains the prophecies about the Messiah; most of the Prophet Jesaia, someone from the Gospel himself. The second part deals with the passion story of Jesus through the texts from the old testament and epistle texts from the New Testament. In the third part is the belief in a resurrected and living Savior on display.
So Händelbiografen Paul Henry Lang describes the most famous korsatsen in Messiah, "when, when the music reverberates Hallelujakoret rays of power and glory, as the travel audience out to honor a mighty ruler. We kneel in his presence, we are rakryggede and andektige. "
