Marius Neset and Leif Ove Andsnes Come to the Norwegian Opera

Oslo Jazz Festival and the Oslo Chamber Music Festival will present Marius Neset & Leif Ove Andsnes – Who We Are at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Saturday, August 16th.
The album Who We Are is an innovative collaboration between saxophonist/composer Marius Neset and pianist Leif Ove Andsnes, two of the world’s leading performers in jazz and classical music, respectively. Who We Are has received glowing reviews from the press both in Norway and internationally, and this will be an exclusive opportunity to experience the music live. With the Main Stage at the Opera House as the setting, a truly unique concert experience awaits.
As musicians from different traditions, Neset and Andsnes usually work with distinct stylistic ideals within their respective expressions. With Neset's compositions and the duo’s sparkling interplay, the traditions and expressions of jazz and classical music intertwine to create music that defies easy categorization. On stage, they are joined by Ingrid Søfteland Neset, former principal flutist of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, and Louisa Tuck, principal cellist of the Oslo Philharmonic, who also has an extensive solo career.
On Who We Are, Neset's warm saxophone tones and Andsnes' exceptional piano playing engage in dialogue, forming a type of chamber music that is dynamic and deeply captivating. A mighty musical meeting from start to finish.
