Studio Rep to Hold CODE 20: PROCEED TO IMPROV, 11/14
The Alden in McLean's professional teen repertory company, Studio Rep, is hosting a monthly open mic night at the Old Firehouse Teen Center (OFTC). The event provides an opportunity for performers of all ages and skill levels to practice their crafts in a small, supportive setting. This month's "Code 20: Proceed to Improv" will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. Admission is free. OFTC is located at 1440 Chain Bridge Road.
"Code 20: Proceed to Improv" is a coffeehouse-style night of improv and open mic performances. Always free and always the second Thursday of the month, this interactive show encourages audience members to join in the improv or perform during the open mic segment. Immediately following, some of Washington's best improvisation teams will perform. Upcoming dates for Code 20 performances at OFTC are: December 12, January 9, February 13, March 13, April 10 and May 8.
In addition to Code 20, the Studio Rep Company performs lighthearted, yet thought-provoking one-act plays on social issues affecting middle and high school. These performances are often followed by engaging discussions. Studio Rep's focus for the 2013-2014 season is bullying.
