Roanoke Children's Theatre to Present RAPUNZEL, 5/26-6/12

By:

A magical, musical "hairy" tale adventure will hit the Roanoke Children's Theatre stage this summer. The area's only professional theatre for young audiences will present the fun and exciting RAPUNZEL from May 26-June 12, 2016 in the Dumas Center (108 First Street NW).

RCT Artistic Director Pat Wilhelms takes the helm as director for RCT's RAPUNZEL. Get all TANGLED up in RCT's summer show. RAPUNZEL is a musical fairy tale treat by the Emmy award-winning creators of Friends. An adaptation of the long-haired princess and her climbing suitor who find their happy ending in a story of growing hair and growing up! Everyone will love this familiar tale with a funny new spin!

Rapunzel is a typical 16-year-old girl, with a couple small exceptions: she was stolen from her real parents by a wicked witch who pretends to be her mother, and her home is a high-security tower in the middle of nowhere. She's content, and as far as she knows, has a great life...if a little boring. Excitement finds Rapunzel when the charming and handsome Prince Brian stumbles upon her remote abode, and she realizes how much she has been missing! Brian dodges the witch to visit his new friend regularly, and the two plot an escape. But the witch is crafty and casts a spell that sets the young couple on a difficult journey to happily ever after.

Director Pat Wilhelms says, "I am thrilled to present RAPUNZEL to our community. It is a delightful musical that promises to entertain the whole family with its catchy songs and all the charm and humor you would expect from the writers who also wrote and created the popular television series, Friends."
