Washington icon, pianist, vocalist, musicologist and humorist, John Eaton, will perform his signature mix of American popular songs and jazz at McLean's Alden Theatre at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19. Tickets are $28, $10 for McLean tax district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
Eaton is considered one of the foremost interpreters of American music. He combines his extraordinary playing of ultra-tasteful jazz with fascinating observations. A graduate of Yale University and a student of renowned classical teacher Alexander Lipsky, Eaton has been called "one of America's true musical treasures." He has performed professionally for more than 30 years and was named to the exclusive Steinway Concert Artist roster in 1988.As a part of Alden Theatre's Black History Month celebration, Eaton will lend his signature blend of knowledge, playfulness and unbelievable chops to the music of Fats Waller and Duke Ellington in acknowledgment of their contributions to jazz and popular music.
