Firehouse Theatre and the Virginia Historical Society are teaming up once again to bring the popular sing-a-long event HAMILTUNES back to Richmond for a repeat performance. The Virginia Historical Society will host at 428 North Boulevard on Saturday, February 3 at 1:00 pm.
HAMILTUNES originated in Los Angeles, where a small fan club staged their tribute to the hit musical. They pioneered the formula of having participants sign up for various roles to sing the show in its entirety, using musical tracks with lowered vocals. Since then HAMILTUNES LA has provided a starter kit to organizers in cities all over the U.S. and internationally. This guide found its way into the hands of Penelope Fleming, who has worked with Firehouse Theatre to bring HAMILTUNES RVA to life.
For this installment of HAMILTUNES RVA three types of tickets are available:Revolutionary Singers sign up to sing specific parts onstage (and in more than one song), Founding Fathers (and mothers) receive the VIP treatment with VHS and Firehouse swag plus priority seating, and Support Troops can sing along and harmonize from their seats in the audience. Purchase tickets at https://firehousehamiltunes.brownpapertickets.com/ and join the revolution!
Donations and ticket sales will once again benefit the Richmond Theatre Artist Fund, established in 2006 to provide emergency financial assistance to career actors, directors, administrators, and theatre-workers of all kinds who've made significant contributions to live theatre in this community and find themselves in extreme need due to illness, injury, or other life-altering situations.
The Virginia Historical Society (VHS)-a privately funded nonprofit organization-collects, preserves, and interprets the Commonwealth's history, linking past with present to inspire future generations. The VHS is located at 428 North Boulevard in Richmond's Museum District. Hours are Monday thru Sunday 10:00am to 5:00pm for the galleries and museum shop, Monday thru Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm for the library.
