Firehouse Theatre presents "365 Days/365 Plays Revisited" by Suzan-Lori Parks. Performances scheduled for April 26 & 27, 2010, 8 p.m. at the Firehouse Theatre Project, 1609 W. Broad Street, Richmond, Va. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and RAPT members (with ID).

Conceived and directed by Kaye Weinstein Gary and Billy Christopher Maupin
Featuring Kaye Weinstein Gary, Jacqueline Jones, Billy Christopher Maupin, Carolyn Meade, Jacob Pennington, Maggie Roop, and Jason Sandahl.

On Nov. 13, 2002, the incomparable Suzan-Lori Parks got an idea to write a play every day for a year... and did. The result is an extraordinary testament to artistic commitment. In 365 Days/365 Plays Revisited, Gary and Maupin (having previously collaborated on The Morpheus Quartet, The Words of Wendy Wasserstein, and A Great-Looking Boat) continue to explore bringing theatre and dance together in what promises to be yet another explosive evening of new work!

The Firehouse Theatre Project and K Dance are co-producing this show to bring Suzan-Lori Parks' fresh and invaluable voice to Richmond audiences. Ms. Parks was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Topdog/Underdog and is a recipient of the MacArthur "Genius" Award.

365 Days/365 Plays premiered in 2007 in a simultaneous and shared grassroots theater festival involving hundreds of theaters and countless artists around the country. In Richmond, Barksdale Theatre in association with K Dance produced week 50 of this year's long festival. During the 2007 production Ms. Gary and Mr. Maupin decided they would like to further investigate Ms. Parks' work in order to create an evening length theatre/dance event. The result of their collaboration includes 18 plays plus The 3 Constants that Ms. Parks suggested be included in all productions. Their selection includes interesting titles such as "Trust Life," "The Court of the Emperor," "The Plane on the Runway at 6 a.m.," and "A Play for My Brother, Buddy, on His 38th Birthday."

A proud part of the statewide celebration Minds Wide Open: Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts that runs though May, 365 Days/365 Plays Revisited reflects Ms. Parks' vision of "encouraging us to radically change the way we roduce/create/critique/enjoy/think about/talk about theater and about the world."
