1st Stage to Present HARVEY

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this beloved classic is a treat for the whole family. Veta Simmons and her daughter Myrtle Mae have just moved back into town and are making quite a splash on the social scene. Gatherings and engagements abound as Myrtle Mae peruses for a viable suitor. However, to Veta and Myrtle Mae's great dismay, uncle Elwood insists on involving his best friend Harvey in all their social affairs. Harvey is a precocious, humorous, and mischievous character who just so happens to be an imaginary, six-foot-one-and-a-half-foot tall rabbit. When Veta and Myrtle Mae decide to seek respite from Elwood and his pooka, a case of mistaken identity leads the town on a journey to discover the true "lunacy" at play. This delightful, timeless classic challenges us to embrace our imaginations and to resist, at all costs, "being perfectly normal human beings."

The 1st Stage production of Harvey by Mary Chase features Tonya Beckman, Jonathan Lee Taylor, William Aitken, Elliott Bales, Robert Grimm, DeJeanette Horne, Carolyn Kashner, Kelsey Meiklejohn, Emily Morrison, Sue Schaffel, and Tim Torre. Michael Chamberlin returns to 1st Stage to direct the production.

The design team includes: costume design by Kara Waala, lighting design by Brittany Shemuga, sound design by Edward Moser, and properties designer by Cindy Landrum Jacobs.

Harvey will run at 1st Stage from November 12- December 20 with show times as follows: Thursday at 7:30pm (first weekend only), Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 2 pm and 8 pm, and Sundays at 2pm and 7pm. There will be no 7pm performance on Sunday, November 15, 2015.

General admission tickets are $30. Senior (65+) tickets are $26. Student and military tickets are $15.

4-Play Subscriptions are available for savings of up to 20% off regular price tickets. Tickets, Subscriptions, and Flex Passes can be purchased online at www.1ststagetysons.org or by calling the 1st Stage box office at 703-854-1856.

The run time is approximately 2 hours including one 15- minute intermission.

Harvey is the second play in 1st Stage's eighth season. Following Harvey will be When the Rain Stops Falling by Andrew Bovell, Directed by Michael Dove (February 4-28), Proof by David Auburn, Directed by Alex Levy (March 31-May 1), and Floyd Collins by Tina Landau, Music and Lyrics by Adam Guettel, Additional Lyrics by Tina Landau, Directed by Nick Olcott (June 2-26).
