OVERVIEW: 4 MEN, 4 WOMEN

George Hay (50s) An actor who also manages a touring theatre company. Married to Charlotte, but has a wandering eye. He plays the leads, such as Cyrano, of course. Fences.

Ethel (appears 70s) An actress on the tour who is Charlotte’s mother and grandmother to Roz. She’s quite deaf and loves the theatre.

Rosalind aka Roz (20s-early 30s) George and Charlotte’s daughter who is bright and attractive. She quit doing theatre, and is now in advertising. She’s recently engaged to Howard.

Howard (ate 20s-early 30s) He’s a good-natured good-looking guy engaged to Roz. He’s a TV weatherman, and very nervous to meet the Hays.

Eileen (20s) A young actress in the company who is pregnant with George’s child.

Charlotte (50s) An actress who is married to George. She will fence in the show. She plays Roxane opposite her husband. They both once had illustrious careers, but their stars are waning.

Paul (30s) A likeable, good-looking guy and an actor who was once in a relationship with Roz.

Richard Maynard (50s) A lawyer who represents every major star in Hollywood. He’s in love with Charlotte.

In the tradition of madcap comedy, the hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong!
