About the Show: TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences)
“14-year-old Frankie Steiner has just lost his dad. To cope with the grief, he throws himself into his robotics project for the school’s Science Expo, but his mom and friends are shocked when he builds a life-like robot that looks and sounds exactly like his late dad. A TYA musical about loss and acceptance handled with humor and warmth, set to a pop/rock score.”

FRANKIE STEINER: Male Identifying. 18+ to play 14. Tenor. A teen scientific genius mourning the loss of his father. Headstrong and passionate about science. Also deeply sad and grieving in a...unique... way. Strong singer.
SARABETH: Female Identifying. 18+ to play 14. Bright mix/belt Soprano or Mezzo. Frankie’s friend, classmate, and fellow science lover. Sweet, earnest, smart, empathetic. She has a crush on Frankie and grapples with him not paying attention to her. Strong singer.
MRS. STEINER/AUDREY: Female Identifying. 18+ to play mid 30s and 14. Bright mix/belt Soprano or Mezzo, performs a short rap. Frankie’s recently widowed mother. Doing the best she can to hold things together for her son, but we see her crack when his robotics expo project is a little too familiar. Also plays AUDREY, one of Frankie’s classmates and Sarabeth’s friend. Audrey excels in all 20 of her extracurriculars, but she loves band the most. A strong comedic actor and singer.
LOUIS: Male Identifying. 18+ to play 14. Tenor or Baritenor. Frankie’s classmate and fellow competitor in the Robotics Expo. A smart and snively momma’s boy who will do whatever it takes to win. The annoying antagonist. A strong actor and singer.
MONSTER: Male Identifying. 18+ to play mid 30s. Baritone or Baritenor. Preference for a tall actor. Frankie’s scientific creation. He bears a striking resemblance to his late father. A humanistic robot discovering the world for the first time. Also plays DR. POLIMORFUS, Frankie’s wacky science teacher. A strong actor and singer with robotic physicality and vocal quality.
