CORTLAND REPERTORY THEATRE ANNOUNCES LOCAL AUDITIONS FOR 2018 SUMMER PRODUCTIONS

Cortland Repertory Theatre is announcing local auditions for adults, ages 19 and up for all productions in the upcoming 47th annual summer season. Auditions will be held at CRT Downtown, 24 Port Watson Street, Cortland over three days: Friday, January 26 – Sunday, January 28, from 9:00 – 4:00 with dance callbacks to follow each day. Summer productions include:

  • “Rough Crossing”: a shipboard farce;
  • “Saturday Night Fever”: a stage musical based on the 1970’s movie;
  • “Newsies”: Disney’s stage version of the musical movie;
  • “Our Town”: the Pulitzer Prize winning classic;
  • “Women in Jeopardy!”: a comedy/mystery about three 40-something best friends;
  • “The Rat Pack Lounge”: a juke-box musical with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

Interested individuals must submit an audition request through the theatre’s website at
www.cortlandrep.org. Click on the Employment button, then the Audition tab. Detailed instructions on submitting for an audition, along with character descriptions, can be found on this page. Walk-ins will be seen if time allows.

These will be the only local auditions CRT will hold this year. If cast, actors must be available for both daytime and evening rehearsals. Season dates run from May 21 - Sept 8. Rehearsal and performance dates vary depending on show. More information can be found on the website.

  • Primarily seeking non-union All roles in all shows open. Seeking a variety of types and ages, all nationalities. Cortland Repertory Theatre is an equal opportunity employer.
  • Please provide a current, non-returnable photo and theatrical resume, including phone number and email address.
  • For the plays: Please prepare one 1 - 2 minute monologue, appropriate for the season.
  • For the musicals: Please prepare 16 – 20 measures of an uptempo and ballad in an appropriate style of our shows. Pianist will be provided; Auditionees must bring their own sheet music, clearly marked. Be prepared to sing more if asked.
  • Auditionees may be asked to read from provided scripts and/or may be asked to attend a dance callback for “Saturday Night Fever” and “Newsies”. Dance callbacks will be held each day at 4:00 PM.
  • Due to time restraints, CRT rarely arranges private auditions.
  • CRT’s New York City auditions will be held from February 26 – March 1. More information is listed on the website.
