Houston Grand Opera Audition Notice for Solo Dancers (Covers) for a production of CARMEN directed and choreographed by Broadway superstar Rob Ashford Houston Auditions: Saturday, November 9, 2013 Houston Grand Opera is seeking local solo dancers – 1 male and 1 female – as covers (understudies) for its 2014 Spring Repertory production of Carmen. Acclaimed director/choreographer Rob Ashford is bringing a troupe of 12 dancers from New York City for this production, and we are seeking 2 local dancers to serve as covers. Interested candidates should have formal classical and contemporary dance training with strong technique and should have FULL AVAILABILITY to be called up to 30 hours per week during the period of April 6 – May 10, 2014. A dancer contracted for this engagement can expect to earn approximately $5,500 over the course of the 5-week production period.
