Brick City – Premiere Stages

Premiere Stages, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Kean University, is seeking submissions from Equity and Non-Equity actors for its 2018 production of Brick City by Nicole Pandolfo. Director TBD. Production slated for Summer 2018 with a private reading in February.

In a fictionalized Newark High School, Jessie, a high school senior with a disability, and Darnell, the star player of the basketball team, find themselves together in extended study hall during the most important marking period of their lives. Brick City was originally commissioned by the NJPAC Stage Exchange, a program of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in partnership with the New Jersey Theatre Alliance.

Premiere Stages is located in Union, NJ, 40 minutes from Manhattan. There is an accessible train station at the Kean University campus (from Penn Station). Transportation assistance will be made available.


Seeking:
JESSIE McKENNA 17-year-old girl. Assigned to study-hall due to failing grades and repeated truancy. Artistic, spunky, resourceful, hides behind her humor. She uses a wheelchair. Any ethnicity.*
*Premiere Stages is specifically seeking actors who use wheelchairs or have mobility disabilities for this role.
