A Delicate Balance by Edward Albee - West Coast Players Non Equity Auditions

West Coast Players will hold auditions for A DELICATE BALANCE by Edward Albee at 2 pm on Sunday August 2nd and 7 pm on Monday, August 3rd , 2015. One of Edward Albee’s most celebrated plays, A Delicate Balance won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1967 as well as the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play in 1996. It was also revived again on Broadway in 2014 starring Glenn Close and John Lithgow. Director Linda Weir will be looking to cast the following roles: Agnes – late 50’s+ Tobias – Agnes’ husband, a few years older Claire – Agnes’ sister, several years younger Julia – Agnes’ and Tobias’ daughter, 36 Edna – late 50”s+ Harry – Edna’s husband, a few years older Auditions will be cold readings from the script. No performers paid. Production dates are September 25 – October 11, 2015. Play Synopsis: The play revolves around well-off, middle-aged couple, Agnes and Tobias, who have their complacency shattered when friends Harry and Edna appear on their doorstep, claiming an encroaching, nameless fear has driven them from their own home. But this household, in which the stern, sharp-tongued Agnes is the “fulcrum,” is already teetering from the “willful” drinking of Agnes’ sister, Claire. These neighbors plus the return of the couple’s daughter, Julia, seeking sanctuary from her fourth failed marriage, bring doubt, recrimination, and ultimately solace, upsetting the “delicate balance” of Agnes and Tobias’ world.
