Southern Rep Theatre & Partners to Develop New Performing Arts Complex

Today, Southern Rep Theatre, Rose Community Development Corporation and Alembic Community Development announced plans for launching the Bayou Treme Center campus development project, which will renovate the long-vacant former St Rose de Lima Church into a hub for the performing arts in the city and a cultural anchor on the Bayou Road corridor. The ceremony was followed by guided tours through the historic building and around the site of the upcoming campus development.

For the second time in the past few years, the Disney favorite BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is in New Orleans. If you caught the show a couple of seasons ago (read my review here), you know that this is one of the most magical productions currently running! It's a classic story with a great message about seeing beyond a person's exterior and trying to get to know them for the person they are inside. Belle certainly sees beyond the Beast's exterior, and through her passionate care, helps the residents of his castle to reclaim their humanity.
