Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, in partnership with Jackie Alexander Productions, presents the regional premiere of The High Priestess of Dark Alley, July 7 - 24, 2016.

The High Priestess of Dark Alley will play Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre from July 7 - 24, 2016. The contemporary 7th Ward-set drama is written and directed by Jackie Alexander, author of last season's Brothers From The Bottom. In the play, two sisters- one robbed of her sexuality, the other defined by it- do battle with their domineering mother over the men they love. The High Priestess of Dark Alley is the story of three Creole women, Celeste Thibodaux and her two daughters, Claire and Janee Charbonnet. Trapped by the conventions of intra-racial divisions within the African American community, the sisters are pitted against their mother regarding issues of color, class, sexuality and generational differences.

Writer and director Alexander says, "While The High Priestess of Dark Alley's story is universal, the characters are defined by life in New Orleans, and I'm thrilled to bring them home."

The High Priestess of Dark Alley stars Janee Michelle (Gee Tucker), marking her long-awaited return to the stage. Also starring are Nicoye Banks (Green Zone, Brooklyn's Finest), Dennis Dannel, Zeb Hollins III, Kris Sidberry, and Traci Tolmaire. The creative team includes Edward Anderson (composer), Patrice Davidson (scenic design), Rocharlotte Raphael (costume design), and James Bevins (lighting design).
